Today, I paid a courtesy call to my friend, brother and colleague, His Excellency, Senator David Umahi CON, the honourable minister for works at his office, primarily to congratulate him on his well-deserved appointment.
Senator Dave Umahi and I have come a long way as friends, colleagues and brothers, as Governors and as Senators. His appointment as Minister and deployment as Minister for Works is a good development for our country. I am confident that he will utilize his varied experiences as an engineer, an administrator and a Governor with vast knowledge in construction to drive infrastructural development and renewal in Nigeria as he did in Ebonyi State for 8 years. He is one of the Ministers in the cabinet who holds a lot of promise for the renewed hope agenda of the President.
I expressed the best wishes of my family and me on his appointment as I was unable to attend his inauguration reception. I cannot forget how he accepted under great pressure to chair the Bayelsa Gubernatorial primaries in 2019 at my request which led to the emergence of the current Governor even when he was indisposed.
Senator Umahi has my support and prayers for his success. I also discussed a few needs of my Senatorial district, of my state and of the Niger Delta at large and the need for collaboration with the states. I expect that he will give his maximum cooperation in that regard.
