Earlier today, I received a group of Ijaw youths, led by Dr. Alaye Tare Theophilus and his team who introduced themselves to me as executives of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC).
I recall that about a week ago, I received a delegation of the IYC executives led by the President, Comrade Jonathan Lokpobri who paid a courtesy call on me and I gave my words of advice on that occasion.
As one of the leaders in the Ijaw nation and a current representative, it is my duty to receive all our people and cannot turn down anyone who comes to see me. However, I told them I cannot endorse, support or associate myself with any factional group.
And I therefore call on the Bayelsa State Government, the INC and the stakeholders in the IYC to take steps to resolve any issue arising from the IYC election as the Ijaw nation cannot afford any division at this time.
I also urged the youths to be open to any intervention.
