Like everyone else, I was shocked to learn of the passing of Herbert O. Wigwe, Group CEO of Access Holdings, in a helicopter crash in the United States of America. Tragically, his wife and son also lost their lives in the accident.
Herbert Wigwe was an exceptional banker who dedicated himself to breaking new frontiers in the banking industry. His efforts not only improved banking services but also set standards that benefited society as a whole. His sudden passing is an immense loss for the South South region, Nigeria, and Africa.
It is with deep sadness that I reflect on our shared pursuit of human capacity development. Last year, both of us were granted licenses for our respective private universities. I sincerely hope that his untimely demise will not hinder the realization of this admirable dream.
On behalf of my family and the South South Caucus of the Senate, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and associates worldwide. May the Almighty grant their souls eternal rest.
