This afternoon, I had the pleasure of hosting some Federal Senior Officers from the Ijaw ethnic nationality who are of the directorate cadre (Assistant Directors, Deputy Directors, and Directors). I took the opportunity to encourage them to form a strong, united front and have a platform where they share information relating to opportunities and fostering mutual support among themselves.
I was pleased with the large turnout, and I took the opportunity to address the group on the significance of maintaining professionalism and serve with integrity and dedication. I also emphasized the need for self development. I urged them to actively involve all Senior Ijaw officers in all the states where the Ijaws are indigenous. The forum should be inclusive. Upon their offer, I accepted the role of patron and used the occasion to extend a call to all political office holders to give them access and provide them with support and encouragement.
I told them that, the forum when properly organized, will serve as a veritable avenue for bureaucrats, professionals and political leaders at the federal level to convene and compare notes on matters of development.
I offered my best wishes for the New Year and expressed my hope of seeing them again soon.
HSD.
