Today, my family and I in company of several friends and well-wishers had a brief Praise and Worship session to mark my 58th birthday. I have never organized elaborate birthday celebrations. But every year my family and I in company of few friends and well wishers who are around at the time usually mark the date with brief prayers.
Today was no different.
I thank the Chairman and leaders of the Bayelsa West Caucus led by Honorable Fyneman Wilson, I thank all the elders who came too numerous to mention, the women, youths and other stakeholders of Bayelsa West, Bayelsa State and beyond, My colleague, Senator Benson Agadaga, Senator Representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District and others who heard and joined in solidarity. The Bayelsa West elders and caucus selected a few members to represent the the others who as a result of the distance, cost and security challenges nowadays could not make it.
I call on the numerous friends, colleagues, supporters, well-wishers and several others who would have loved to be here to show understanding as it was the usual family low-key event.
I thank all those who called or sent messages and gifts across from Bayelsa West, Bayelsa State and across the country. I thank them for their expressions of good will and solidarity, I also thank all those who put out statements in the traditional and new media, I pray for journey mercies back home to all those who came to honor me. It is my prayer that men and women will honour them too.
I specially thank His Excellency, Governor Douye Diri, and Senator Lawrence Ewrhudjakpor, his Deputy who called early in the morning to express their felicitations and the Bayelsa State Government for putting out a statement.
