Today I led a high-powered delegation of their Majesties, Highnesses, and other leaders from Bayelsa State on a courtesy call on the Governor of Rivers State, my brother His Excellency, Siminalayi Fubara.
I thank the Government of Rivers State for the reception accorded our delegation. I thank the Bayelsa elders and leaders who were in the delegation.
Rivers State and Bayelsa are one. I commended the Governor for initiating moves with the Governor of Bayelsa, His Excellency Douye Diri to normalize relations between our States as well as other issues.
I urged Rivers State leaders to rally round and come together and support the Governor to succeed and also intervene to ensure there is no further escalation of the political tension in the State.
I made the case that Rivers State being our parent State gave birth to Bayelsa. Every Bayelsan is interested in what happens in Rivers State and indeed has a stake and it is our desire that the people of Rivers State especially their leaders, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, His Excellency Nyesom Wike, CON, and the Governor, His Excellency, Fubara, should amicably resolve all their issues.
We thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his intervention and we thank all leaders who have tried to intervene and urge them to continue and not to get tired.
On our own part, our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Rivers State and the Government of Rivers State.
